WHAT IS A GPS MONITORED MEDICAL DEVICE?

We supply and monitor wearable, GPS medical devices that work using a cell chip all over the USA. This device, called the Belle X, is monitored 24/7/365 and with the push of a button you'll be speaking with a live person to assist you in reaching family members or friends. In the case of an emergency, like a fall or if you've fallen ill, users press their device to summon the appropriate help like ambulance or fire personnel. Operators are located in the USA and are highly trained to help you in any situation, even if you accidentally push the button or drop the device, since fall detection is built in. The CareGiver App allows family/friends to monitor your location without having to reach you directly.

WHO HELPS ME OR MY LOVED ONE DURING AN EMERGENCY?

Family Medical Alert's 24/7/365  operators whenever you either 1. fall, 2. let the battery get too low or 3. press the button and will talk to you through the speaker on the Belle X. Operators can dispatch emergency services or contact a friend or family member depending on the severity of the situation. Each account can have up to four personal emergency contacts such as a friend, neighbor, or family member. Plus the CareGiver App allows for friends and family to help monitor the device and your whereabouts as you're on the go. 

DOES MEDICARE COVER MEDICAL ALERT DEVICES?

Not yet. GPS monitored medical devices are not covered under Medicare. Eligibility varies by state for Medicaid. If you are looking to get the device covered by insurance or Medicaid, we would encourage you to reach out to your private insurance or case manager for assistance as we do not handle the reimbursement through these types of programs.

HOW DOES FALL DETECTION WORK?

Fall detection wearables are meant to detect when the wearer falls and, assuming there is no further motion, automatically initiates an alarm to the monitoring center. Automatic fall detection is meant for serious falls where someone is left unconscious and motionless. Whenever you're able, press the button for help otherwise.

CAN I STILL USE MY DEVICE TO GET HELP IF SOMEONE ELSE IS HAVING AN EMERGENCY?

Yes! Your GPS monitored medical device can be used in any emergency situation for anyone. So if you or a friend or family member is having an emergency, push your button to seek out immediate help. Family Medical Alert can dispatch fire, police, emergency medical services or contact a friend or family member. 

IS MY DEVICE WATERPROOF?

The device is meant for use in the shower and around the tub. It resists water but they're not yet 100% waterproof. You may chose to zip lock or tie a bag around it if going to be exposed to water for longer periods and want to ensure water doesn't penetrate into the device. 

DO I NEED TO CHARGE IT?

Yes, however, it typically will last about 2 weeks on a single charge and can be charged in typically a few hours. We recommend putting the charger near where you watch TV and charge while you're relaxing and then put the device back on again prior to getting up. 

DO I HAVE TO BUY THE DEVICE?

No, our GPS monitored medical devices are free for you to use as long as you're subscription for monitoring the device is active.  Upon deactivation with the monitoring, either by you or due to lack of payment, this will result in the termination of the agreement and the device will need to be shipped back to our offices within 25 days to prevent a charge for the device.
